It has been long since I wrote a review and it isn’t for lack of reading books. It’s the laziness of writing the reviews. I guess you can say I’ve been stung with the laziness bug.
This book ended in a cliffhanger in my opinion, you can’t say you’ve found who killed the guy and not tie up loose ends. I hate loose ends, I like when authors tie up all the loose ends in a fine looking bow, so this was a setback for me with this book.
Apart from that, this was an epic novel. I would like to let you guys in on a little secret (don’t judge me), I read this book for weeks.. A page a Day (sad), this isn’t because the book was boring.. No, I guess it’s because i read it in paperback (I think I am so used to ebook now) or because it’s kind of a medical mystery novel(medical terms wear me out). The only time I’ve been this slow in reading a novel was when I read John Grishams The jury ( law terms wear me out as well).
Back to the review, this book is the 5th install of the Dr. Alan Gregory series and it’s in his point of view. He was brought in to psychoevaluate a patient that tried to kill herself. The patient (Merrit) is the elder sister of the baby girl that the insurance company (Medexcel) is stopping from taking the experimental drug that might save her.
As the book progresses, the Ceo of Medexcel is murdered and all evidence points to Merritt. Merritt isn’t consciously keeping mute but the good doctor gains her trust and gets her to talk. He finds out that she didn’t kill the Ceo amongst other things but he can’t say(patient confidentiality😕😕).
The book is took me through all my emotions, the suspense was top notch but the end of the book was a no no for me. Yes, we found out she didn’t kill the doctor, but evidence puts her in the room where the murder took place . We as readers know what happened as well as Dr Alan but the detectives don’t know But the author decided to stop it there😒😒 (I’ve watched too many detective movies, I expect more 😀😊) . This is a loose end and I don’t like loose ends in books, I over think different scenarios in my head and come up with alternative endings😕😕.
I give this book 6/10 for obvious reasons.
Note:this reviews are my personal reviews and thoughts on the books. They are my personal opinions, you might have a different opinion 😀.
