This is not a debate about which is better although that was my earlier plan… I have decided to just talk about how much i like these two mediums.
Printed books are awesome!!!!!!.. there is just this particular feeling i get when I’m reading a printed book. The way the book feels in my hand, the smell …ohh…i love printed books..
Ebooks on the other hand are very convenient(i cannot overemphasize how convenient they are). Using my phone , i read an estimated number of 10 books in a week. its the internet ..all i have to do is know what i’m looking for and i can download/buy it…unlike printed books where finding a bookshop where the books are sold is a problem and then the constant overpricing of these books/novels in the bookshop(is it because they know only a select few actually read book?). In lagos and Ibadan where im based, good printed books are gotten from roadside booksellers but the books are very random.
Another downside of printed books is wear and tear….as the owner of a book , the book will be in pristine condition but when we start borrowing the book out …it’ll just have one issue or the other when returned back to you (if this happens to you say aye!)and the joy of reading books/novels is to be able to have conversations about it( so borrowing books really is inevitable).
Am i the only one that cannot carry a book over to the next day?..i have to finish that day o (lol) and this is a problem when using ebooks (as there is never light)..the device can always die due to low battery (very frustrating!!!).
I started reading printed books first but ebooks have really made everything easier (there are so many authors out there!!!!…. i really just knew the popular ones but now if the book is interesting consider me in)….although i mainly read more of fiction, i cannot pass off an interesting book.
I hope you liked reading this as much as i loved writing it.. tell me what you like and dislike about this two mediums…
